This short clip crosses above the outdoor amenity courtyard and pergola at Belmont Village, an occupied senior-living high-rise in Coral Gables. Amenity spaces are where residents notice cleaning work the most, and where traditional access does the most harm, because anything standing in the courtyard shuts it for the length of the job.

How the amenity areas stayed open

Outdoor decks, pavers and pergolas soil quickly in South Florida. Shade and irrigation keep them damp, so algae and mildew darken the surfaces, and runoff from the walls above adds streaks and staining.

On this job the amenity areas were cleaned at the start of the schedule. The drone worked the facades around the courtyard from the air, water-fed poles covered parts of the pool deck, and a ground crew pre-treated the floor surfaces and then pressure-washed them clean. The drone staged off the truck at the edge of the property, so nothing was set up in the courtyard itself.

If your building has a pool deck or courtyard that residents use every day, ask for the amenity areas to be scheduled first. They are the part of the job residents will judge.

What you are seeing

A short transit above the building's outdoor amenity level as the drone moves between elevations. Residents kept normal use of the outdoor areas throughout the project.

Amenity decks are where traditional access hurts most: a scaffold or lift footprint closes the courtyard for the duration. Staging the drone off the truck at the perimeter kept this one open.

About this project

This footage was filmed at Belmont Village Coral Gables, an occupied senior-living high-rise. Vista Drone Cleaning cleaned more than 130,000 square feet of exterior (facade, windows, floor surfaces and the parapet) at $0.20 per square foot, all in, in seven days, with no scaffolding, swing stages, rope access or lifts and no closures.
