What you are seeing
The drone working the horizontal metal sun-shade louvers that band the facade. Each louver has an upper surface that collects grit and a shadowed underside that holds biofilm.
Louvers are slow work by hand, since a rope tech has to reach over and under every blade. From the air both faces are reachable in one vertical pass, which is where most of the schedule saving on this facade came from.
About this project
This footage was filmed at Belmont Village Coral Gables, an occupied senior-living high-rise developed in collaboration with Baptist Health South Florida. Vista Drone Cleaning cleaned more than 100,000 square feet of facade at $0.20 per square foot over about two weeks, with the building fully occupied throughout — no scaffolding, no swing stages, no rope access, and no closed sidewalks or entrances.
- Tethered soft-wash drone to a manufacturer-published 150 ft, plus a 70 ft water-fed pole from grade — roughly 13 to 15 stories.
- Heated sodium percarbonate (oxygen bleach), so no sodium hypochlorite, no chlorine odor and no plant kill at grade.
- Flown under FAA Part 107 with $2M liability insurance in force.
