This clip shows our tethered drone working the narrow gap between two towers at Belmont Village in Coral Gables. The facing walls in a gap like this are often the dirtiest on a campus. They get little direct sun, so they stay damp long after rain, and the wind that funnels between the slabs carries salt haze and grit straight onto them.

Why the gap between towers is hard to clean

Rigged access struggles here. A swing stage hangs from one roof and drops in a straight line, so it cleans one face at a time and has to be rigged again for the opposite wall. The returns and reveals in between are hard to reach at all. A boom lift needs a clear path and level ground for its outriggers, which a gap between buildings rarely has.

From the air, the drone holds position in the gap and treats both faces in the same visit. The soft wash goes on at low pressure and is rinsed off with purified water, working from the top down so nothing runs onto finished wall.

What you are seeing

The drone tracks through the gap between two towers of the Belmont Village campus, holding position against the channeled wind that funnels between slabs. The dark line trailing below it is the tether, which carries water up from the ground rig, not power.

Flying between towers is the case that rules out swing stages: a stage has to be rigged from one roof and cannot easily service the returns and reveals facing the opposite slab. The drone treats both faces in one pass.

About this project

This footage was filmed at Belmont Village Coral Gables, an occupied senior-living high-rise. Vista Drone Cleaning cleaned more than 130,000 square feet of exterior (facade, windows, floor surfaces and the parapet) at $0.20 per square foot, all in, in seven days, with no scaffolding, swing stages, rope access or lifts and no closures.
